The School Year Has Gone By Way to Fast

Well Gracie did it, she finished her first year of school!!! It is official, summer is here!!! I can't believe how fast this school year went by or how much Gracie has grown. She has learned so much this past year. She taught us about economics (what a buyer and a seller is), she taught us about gravity, and how the earth rotates and moves around the sun. She is reading books and writing sentences. She has turned into a social butterfly and has developed a love of learning and school. She had a great teacher, Mrs. Scott, and she made many great friends (some of which will be leaving in a couple of weeks). This is the downfall of army life. She was sad to say goodbye to her classroom A-3 and her teacher. But she is sure she will stop in and say hi to her next year. Anyways she is looking forward to first grade and has already told us " it is going to be a little bit harder we are going to have to do more reading and writing". But we are looking forward to a fun summer. I have to admit it is nice not having to get up at 6:30 every morning to get her on the bus at 7. We have already had a great summer and are looking forward to our trip to the mainland in a couple of weeks.

We got to spend an evening at the beach with daddy we had dinner and went for and evening swim. It was so nice to stay out a little later cause there was no school.

Of course I thought we could kick off the summer by washing our car. Well the kids had a different idea. They of course were so much help they got a good washing too.

We bought a summer pass to the water park here. We had so much fun. Gracie wore herself out and fell asleep at 6:30. I think we will be making many trips there this summer LOL!!!

Dylan is 1

Well I am not sure if I loved this day or if it made me sad. This year went by way to fast. It seems like just yesterday I brought him home from the hospital. It has been such a joy to watch him grow up. He was such a sweet baby. He is still my sweet little boy but it is fun to see his personality come out... and I think I am in for a treat. Dylan is a crawling tornado. He can pull things apart faster than I can put things back together. He has already discovered toilets and yes he loves to splash in them. He screams like a velosaraptor when he wants something. I have been trying to teach him signs for months now. He just laughs and at me and then screams again, and then he smiles. He has no desire for now to even try. He loves dirt, and rocks, remote controls, and any gadget he can find. (Deven's I-pod touch, or our cell phones.) He is such a boy. He love to get dirty and loves to throw his food on the floor, especially if he doesn't like something. He has already figured out how to tease Gracie. She gets mad and he keeps doing it. He will chase her around she screams and he laughs. He pesters her in shopping carts. If he is in the front and she is in the back he turns around and touches her until she gets mad and of course he laughs. He wants whatever she has and he will stop at nothing to get it, Gracie get so frustrated and is constantly shutting him out of her room. He just pounds at the door and screams for her to let him back in. We just love him so much. My days have become busy chasing him around but I love it!!! Happy Birthday Dylan! We love you!

He loved to have Happy Birthday sung to him. He just smiled the whole time.

He didn't know what to do with the candle. He just wanted to grab it so Gracie helped him out.

He held nothing back when he got his cupcake. He ate it and squished it.

We gave him a bath after the cake and I had to just hold him and squeeze him as much as I could. I can't believe he is already one.

You know she's growing up when....

Well it's official Gracie lost her first tooth. She was so excited it fell out at school while she was eating lunch. She got to go to the health room where they gave her this little pink treasure chest to put it in. She has been asking for years when she was going to lose her first tooth I kept telling her when she got bigger... well she did get bigger and it happened. But there are other ways I can tell she is growing up, lets see... she asked me the other day if she could get fake nails. (I don't have fake nails so she has noticed those on others). Her favorite TV show is " i Carly" not cartoons. And she wanted to use her birthday money to go shopping for clothes (not toys). Deven and I took her shopping on Saturday to the mall. She kept saying how much fun it was and picked out so many clothes to try on. After she had paid for some clothes she had her bag in her hands and she walking out of the door with Deven holding his hand, she said really loud "I just love shopping this is so much fun." I was lagging behind a bit with Dylan in the stroller I got side tracked. There were two ladies by the front door who just started laughing. I heard them say, "did you hear that little girl? She was holding her dad's hand as they were walking out of the door and she said I love shopping." I couldn't help but smile. I have to admit I am excited to have someone to go shopping with.... Deven on the other hand, he is a little bit nervous LOL!

The Best Week Ever!!!

After much anticipation Matt and Lisa finally came. It was such a great week. This week reminded us of how lucky we are to live in Hawaii and of how much we love family. Now if there were just some way to combine it all. None the less we had a jammed pack week full of fun. (I did two different posts because this is my scrapbook as well and I wanted to capture all of are memories the best I could) We started off with snorkeling at Sharks Cove, Matsumotos, and the shrimp trucks. We then spent that evening down in Honolulu. The next day we headed to White Plains for some surfing. Matt was really nervous about sharks and we weren't sure if he would get in the water. Well it turns out we couldn't get him out of the water. He was a natural at surfing and he became addicted. That night we hiked the light house and saw whales. Tuesday we started off early with a hike to the top of Diamond Head. From there we headed over to Bellows Beach for some boogie boarding and we topped off the evening with a couples date on a dinner cruise down at Waikiki. Wednesday we of course did the swap meet and the Dole Pineapple Plantation. We got to enjoy another couples date that night at Haleiwa Joes on the North Shore. Thursday we got up early and drove over to the other side of the Island to Kaneohe. We rented a boat over there and took it out to a giant sandbar in the bay. It was cloudy and a bit chilly but so beautiful and so much fun. We had the sandbar all to ourselves and it was amazing. After that we went and checked into our beach Cottage in Kaneohe. This was such a great evening. We had a private beach and we enjoyed snorkeling, some book reading, BBQ steaks on our lanai and of course we ended with a fire pit that evening and smores. From there we headed over to the Polynesian Cultural Center, but we first stopped at the temple in Laie. We enjoyed a Luau at the PCC and the night show. Saturday was there last day but we kept going. We did Pearl Harbor in the morning and then went back for Matt and Deven to surf one more time. That night Gracie had her first hula performance at Mililani Town Center. She was so excited to have Matt and Lisa come watch. We were so proud of her she is a natural. Of course all good things must end and it did. They flew out late that night. But it was a week I will always remember. We had such a great time. We laughed and laughed and then laughed some more. It was great to have Lisa here when we found out my mom was in the hospital we were able to cry together and it was comforting to have each other when we didn't know what was going on. She ended up having surgery on Monday and has a had a rocky recovery. But I was able to talk to her tonight and they think she will be able to go home tomorrow. This is when it is hard to be so far away. But I love you mom and wish I could be there!!!

Haleiwa Joe's. This is one of our favorite places to eat. The boys got brave this time and ordered a special where they got the whole fish on there plate. It looks a little crazy, but it was really good. We all tried it, probably the best fish I have ever had.
